Abby Wetsman
A New Orleans Textile Artist
As a textile artist, I am stretched between fine art and craft. Often these two ideas are distinguished by function. I enjoy pushing the definition to include the function of beauty and decoration. I create textiles that are functional and non functional, as well as historical to non traditional.
As an environmentalist, I mostly use remnants and scraps in my personal work and whenever I can in commissions.
I teach 7-13 year olds machine and hand sewing after-school at Chateau Sew & Sew.
I spend Summers teaching at Country Day Creative Arts. It's my favorite time of the year!
I am the part time art teacher at the
Jewish Community Day School: PreK-6th.
